Dragonwilds Fishing Guide: Nets, Rods, Spells & Level 99

Fishing is a renewable source of food, Cooking experience, and collection rewards. The skill has a dozen fish types and progression through level 99, with nets, rods, and magic supporting different ways to fish.

How to start Fishing

  1. Unlock Coarse Thread by processing Flax at a Spinning Wheel.
  2. Craft a fishing net and visit the Wise Old Man in Bramblemead Village for the introductory Fishing route.
  3. Use the net at suitable fishing spots until you reach Fishing level 3.
  4. Craft your first rod and begin using rod fishing spots as they become available.

Watch the water rather than casting anywhere: net and rod spots have different surface markers. Keeping both tools with your expedition supplies prevents a useful spot from becoming a wasted journey.

What to do with your catch

  • Cook ordinary fish for healing and sustenance food while also progressing Cooking.
  • Expect failed cooks early: fish can burn, particularly while your Cooking level or setup is weak.
  • Save Pristine Fish: these rare catches can become decorative Fishing Trophies instead of routine meals.
  • Plan for the cape: level 99 is the long-term mastery goal and unlocks the Fishing skill cape.

Fishing spells

Fishing has its own magical progression. Fishing Frenzy, Infernal Rod, and Fishnado supplement ordinary nets and rods as you unlock them. Keep Runecrafting materials available before a dedicated session so you can use the spell you trained for instead of returning to base immediately.

Efficient Fishing and Cooking routine

  1. Place a lodestone or compact outpost near a productive route rather than filling your main base with raw fish.
  2. Carry both a net and rod, a little food, and enough inventory space for a full circuit.
  3. Cook common catches in batches and separate Pristine Fish before processing everything.
  4. Combine fishing trips with nearby quests and resource gathering to earn passive Agility XP on foot.
  5. Upgrade equipment as recipes unlock; access to a better region is not useful if your current tool cannot work its spots efficiently.
