Dragonwilds Base Planning Guide

Plan a compact Dragonwilds base with efficient crafting, storage, shelter, Farming, defences, and room for later stations.

Choose the site

Look for buildable ground with room to expand, practical access to early resources, and a route that is easy to recognise at night or in bad weather. Scenic isolation is less valuable than short daily travel.

Use production zones

  1. Entry and expedition storage: food, water, repairs, runes, ammunition, and empty dump chests.
  2. Metal and stone: raw storage, furnace processing, Blacksmith's Bench, and Armour Bench.
  3. Wood and ranged: logs, planks, Fletching Bench, thread, and hides.
  4. Magic: Rune Altar, Mystic Forge, rune storage, and magical components.
  5. Food and Farming: cooking, ingredients, fermentation, seeds, tools, and nearby plots.
  6. Personal area: beds, armour displays, and private storage without blocking shared production.

Design for updates

Leave one open wall or courtyard for new facilities. Major updates have changed crafting stations and added building kits, storage, Farming, and mounts; a base packed edge to edge becomes frustrating to upgrade.

Protect the save

For dedicated worlds, stop the server before copying saves and keep several dated backups outside the live save folder. Building time is usually the most expensive progress to lose.
