Version 1.0 changes how Dragonwilds attacks, defence, stamina, and controller inputs fit together. The most important adjustment is to stop treating every powerful action as a drain on the same stamina pool.

Special Attack bar

Weapon Special Attacks now consume a separate, rechargeable Special Attack resource. The bar slowly recharges over time, allowing specials to be stronger and generally less dependent on stamina while limiting how frequently they can be used.

Jagex has not published one universal recharge rate or cost table. Judge each weapon by its live UI rather than transferring a value from another weapon.

Parries and Visceral Attacks

A successful parry restores 50% of maximum stamina. It also opens an optional Visceral Attack follow-up. You can instead dodge, disengage, or spend a Weapon Special during that window.

This makes a parry both defence and resource recovery, but missing the timing remains risky. Practise against predictable enemies before using it as the only recovery plan in the Scorned Wilderness.

Sprint Attacks and cancelling

The Attack skill unlocks Sprint Attacks after sprinting for a short distance. They create a stronger combat opener without replacing normal combos.

Blocking or dodging can cancel attacks, gathering actions, and spell casts. Several spells—including Enchant Weapon, Windstep, and Surge—can now be cast while moving. Use cancelling to respond to a changed telegraph, not simply to chase an unverified animation exploit.

The Skill Spell wheel also exposes four trigger hotkeys for the first four radial choices. Reorder the Spellbook so those positions match your muscle memory. This guide does not claim a legacy-control option because one is not documented in the official launch notes.

What this changes for builds

  • Preserve stamina for defence and movement, then use a successful parry to refill it.
  • Compare specials as limited active choices, not attacks to spam whenever stamina is full.
  • Account for faster Wand movement separately from higher individual Staff damage.
  • Retest older melee, ranged, and Magic rotations in the live build.
  • Enter observed values in the Damage Calculator; it intentionally ships without guessed 1.0 weapon presets.
