Dragonwilds 1.0 adds a new core equipment tier: Rune armour for melee, Black Dragonhide for ranged, and Ancestral robes for Magic. These sets arrive with Scorned Wilderness on September 15, 2026 and are not live in version 0.12.1.

Older roadmap material called the Magic set Wild Knight Robes. Jagex's later Scorned Wilderness overview names Ancestral robes, so this page follows the newer source.

Rune armour

Rune is the confirmed Scorned Wilderness core melee tier and uses the region's Runite progression. Exact piece statistics, recipes, station requirements, and material quantities should be checked in the live Journal and crafting interface.

Enter with repaired Adamant or a proven Vestige set. The new ore is found inside high-end content, so the previous tier remains the equipment used to obtain its replacement.

Black Dragonhide

Black Dragonhide is the announced ranged set. The region contains lesser black dragons and other elite dragon variants, but Jagex has not confirmed the full hide-processing recipe or drop quantities.

Stock ammunition and maintain a Red Dragonhide fallback. Do not assume every black dragon can be farmed safely from range until terrain and attacks are verified.

Ancestral robes

Ancestral robes are the announced Magic tier. Prepare Infinity or a suitable Vestige set, a high-tier staff, and deep rune reserves. Wands and combat changes also arrive around 1.0, so the best caster configuration must be tested with the released movesets.

Which set should you craft first?

Craft the set supporting the style you can already supply and play consistently. A complete Rune set is not automatically the best first investment if your party relies on ranged pressure or Magic control.

Before spending new materials, compare:

  1. the complete-set stats and effects;
  2. repair cost and renewable supply;
  3. the Kuldra encounter's real damage patterns;
  4. the weapon available for the same style;
  5. whether an existing Vestige remains stronger for the role.

The current best armour guide covers the pre-launch ladder. This page will replace its announced estimates with verified recipes and comparisons after 1.0 releases.
