Dragonwilds Sanguine Urn Locations & Max Health

Find every Dragonwilds Sanguine Urn by region, increase maximum health, troubleshoot missing shrines, and prepare a safe collection route.

Sanguine Urns are permanent health upgrades scattered across Ashenfall. They replaced the old Wardshield-led progression in version 0.12: damage now goes directly to health, food restores health immediately, and discovering these Constitution shrines raises the character's maximum HP.

Collect them while progressing rather than leaving the entire search until Umbral Sands. A few extra health upgrades can be more useful than a marginal armour change, especially when learning a boss or surviving environmental damage.

Sanguine Urn route at a glance

Use the world map's Sanguine Urn icons as the authoritative live checklist. Clear regions in progression order so the surrounding enemies and hazards remain appropriate for your equipment.

Route stageRegionPreparation
1Brynmoor and GhornfellStarter food, repaired early gear, nearby Lodestones
2FellhollowWither protection, cleansing route, Steel-tier equipment
3Dowdun ReachCold and mountain preparation, Mithril-tier equipment
4Umbral SandsWater, shade planning, Adamant-equivalent equipment

Do not count icons from memory. Interact with each urn, confirm the health increase, and mark the location on a written or local checklist before moving on.

Brynmoor and Ghornfell Urns

Begin with the opening regions. These shrines sit along the same broad routes used for the tutorial, early gathering, Goblin quests, and the Dragon Slayer arc. Unlock nearby Lodestones first so a missed icon does not require another full crossing of the starter map.

Search deliberately around:

  • major ruins and quest landmarks;
  • changes in elevation above or below an icon;
  • cave entrances near swamp or cliff markers;
  • the approaches to regional bosses and vaults.

One frequently confusing marker around the swamp is underground, not on the cliff above it. Approach through the nearby cave associated with the Goblin Diplomacy area. If the distance indicator shrinks while the elevation remains wrong, stop climbing and search the lower terrain for an entrance.

Fellhollow Urns

Fellhollow adds Wither-rot and more dangerous travel. Treat the urn circuit as an expedition rather than a sprint between icons.

Bring a way to manage Wither exposure, identify cleansing pools before leaving the safe route, and avoid stacking shrine hunting with an unfamiliar boss attempt. The best order is normally:

  1. unlock a regional Lodestone;
  2. establish a small recovery route;
  3. collect urns near known quest paths;
  4. return for icons inside caves or hostile landmarks with better equipment.

The Fellhollow guide explains the region's survival loop. Combine the urn search with The Wild Hunt, Farming unlocks, and Imaru preparation so every trip advances several goals.

Dowdun Reach Urns

Dowdun Reach rewards careful vertical navigation. A map icon may be close horizontally while sitting on another level of a fortification, mine, vault, or mountain path.

When an urn appears unreachable:

  • follow constructed paths and cave systems before trying to climb directly;
  • look for an entrance on the opposite side of the ridge;
  • check whether a nearby quest or regional gate controls access;
  • place a custom map marker before retreating for supplies.

Collect the easy surface shrines during Mithril and Black Knight progression, then return for enclosed locations after opening the relevant route. The Dowdun Reach guide covers the regional order.

Umbral Sands Urns

The desert is the most expensive region in which to wander without a plan. Carry water, travel through shade, and use a regional outpost or Lodestone to split the circuit into short runs. A Magic Carpet helps with quicksand and distance, but it does not replace heat preparation.

Group icons by landmark instead of attempting one continuous lap:

  • the safer entry side of Umbral Sands;
  • settlements and quest hubs;
  • vault and Kalphite routes;
  • the Burning Spire and other high-risk objectives;
  • Fight Cave, Fuzan, and Crucible-adjacent exploration.

Finish ordinary exploration upgrades before entering a boss arena. Losing a full inventory of supplies to reach one shrine is slower than returning with a repaired endgame loadout. Use the Umbral Sands guide for hazard planning.

How much health does an Urn add?

The live interface shows the result when a shrine is activated. Player-maintained references currently report 10 maximum HP per urn, with a fully collected pre-1.0 set reaching 280 maximum HP before equipment modifiers. Treat the character sheet as the final authority because Jagex can rebalance totals or add new shrines with a region update.

Equipment can also change displayed health. If two players have collected the same shrines but show different totals, remove health-modifying jewellery or armour before assuming an urn failed.

Missing Urn troubleshooting

The icon looks uncollected after a server restart

Dedicated-server players have reported map icons reverting visually after restarts. Compare maximum health and revisit the shrine before concluding character progression was lost. Keep a separate checklist when clearing a shared server.

The marker is above or below the character

Search for caves, interior levels, stairs, and entrances on the other side of the terrain. The Bloodblight/Whispering Swamp cave is the best-known example of a marker that tempts players onto the wrong elevation.

The Urn cannot be activated

Confirm that the same character has not already claimed it, clear nearby combat, reload the world, and test without a health-modifying item equipped. If it remains unusable, record the region and marker and check the current official known-issues post before repeating the entire route.

Co-op health totals do not match

Shrines are character progression, not a single shared-world completion. Compare each player's map, equipment, and health total individually. Have the lower-health player interact with suspected shrines.

Efficient collection checklist

  1. Reveal the regional map and unlock Lodestones.
  2. Screenshot or list every visible Urn icon.
  3. Clear surface and quest-route locations first.
  4. Handle caves and high-risk landmarks on a second pass.
  5. Confirm the health increase after every activation.
  6. Record the completed region outside the map on dedicated servers.
  7. Recheck equipment before comparing health totals.

Once the regional set is complete, continue with boss progression, the best food guide, and best armour progression. Maximum health, reliable healing, and coherent armour work together; none replaces the other two.
