Dragonwilds Bosses in Order & Progression Guide
Fight Dragonwilds bosses in a practical progression order from Velgar and Imaru through the Black Knight Titan, Fuzan, and Umbral Sands challenges.
Last updated: 2026-08-27
RuneScape: Dragonwilds mixes story bosses, regional mini-bosses, vault encounters, and repeatable combat challenges. The cleanest order follows the main regional gear ladder: learn the game in Brynmoor and Ghornfell, defeat Velgar, progress through Fellhollow and Imaru, clear Dowdun Reach and the Black Knight Titan, then enter Umbral Sands for its named bosses, Fight Cave, Fuzan, and Nightmare Crucible.
This page covers the live 0.12.1 game. Kuldra and the Scorned Wilderness raid are confirmed for version 1.0 on September 15, but are listed separately because their mechanics are not live.
Recommended boss order
| Order | Boss or challenge | Region | Preparation goal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Early vault and named encounters | Brynmoor and Ghornfell | Learn blocking, dodging, food, and two combat ranges |
| 2 | Velgar | Opening story arc | Repaired Iron-tier foundation and dependable healing |
| 3 | Fellhollow mini-bosses and vaults | Fellhollow | Steel, Green Dragonhide, or Splitbark progression |
| 4 | Imaru | Fellhollow | Wither-rot and Soul-rift preparation |
| 5 | Dowdun Reach vault bosses | Dowdun Reach | Mithril, Blue Dragonhide, or Mystic progression |
| 6 | Black Knight Titan | Dowdun Reach gate | A complete regional loadout and sustained supplies |
| 7 | Tok-Xil, Red Dragon, and Kalphite Queen | Umbral Sands | Adamant, Yew, Red Dragonhide, or Infinity preparation |
| 8 | Fight Cave and Fuzan | Umbral Sands story finale | Reliable healing, hydration, and a repeatable boss build |
| 9 | Advanced Fight Cave modes | Umbral Sands | Optimised Vestige farming and clean execution |
| 10 | Nightmare Crucible | Umbral Sands endgame | Multiple viable combat answers and reserve supplies |
| Announced | Scorned Wilderness and Kuldra | Version 1.0 | Endgame preparation; mechanics unconfirmed until release |
This is a progression order rather than a mandatory checklist. Exploration can expose mini-bosses early, and a co-op group may safely tackle some encounters sooner. If an enemy consumes most of your food before you understand its first phase, return after the next equipment or Constitution milestone.
1. Opening vaults and named enemies
Use early encounters to establish habits that matter later:
- repair before leaving instead of after durability becomes a problem;
- keep food on a consistent hotbar slot;
- preserve stamina for blocking, dodging, or disengaging;
- carry a ranged or Magic alternative for unsafe melee windows;
- place a practical recovery point before entering a long route.
The opening regions teach poison awareness, confined vault combat, and the difference between fighting ordinary enemies and committing to a named encounter. There is little value in rushing the first Dragon Lord while still relying on scavenged, mismatched equipment.
Use the Dragonkin Vault locations guide to follow the dungeon ladder without overlooking early Cores, Shards, or recipes.
2. Velgar
Velgar is the first Dragon Lord in Kuldra's saga and the first major test of the game's dragon-fighting loop. Prepare a coherent Iron-era setup, strong available food, ammunition or runes for the entire attempt, and a safe way to recover from failure.
Do not chase damage during every opening. Dragon encounters reward reading telegraphs, leaving dangerous ground, and attacking during recoveries. If a base or world event exposes you to Velgar before you are ready, survival and regrouping are valid goals. Continue with the Velgar boss guide for the Challenge Horn, poison preparation, and attack responses.
3–4. Fellhollow mini-bosses and Imaru
Fellhollow adds a dragon boss, a lesser dragon mini-boss, a Zogre mini-boss, multiple vaults, and the region's wither-rot and Soul-rift pressure. Clear regional objectives while building Steel melee, Green Dragonhide ranged, or Splitbark Magic equipment.
Imaru is the region's undead dragon overlord. The arena and surrounding progression test more than raw armour: arrive able to manage Fellhollow's survival mechanics and keep enough food for a prolonged fight. Complete important side unlocks and establish a nearby return route before committing. The Imaru boss guide explains Soul-rifting, spectral damage windows, and cleansing.
5–6. Dowdun Reach and the Black Knight Titan
Dowdun Reach bridges Fellhollow and Umbral Sands with Black Knight content, vertical terrain, vault encounters, and Mithril-tier progression. Its bosses are a preparation check for the desert, where environmental damage can consume supplies before combat begins.
The Black Knight Titan is the explicit gate into Umbral Sands. Treat it as the regional capstone: finish a coherent Mithril, Blue Dragonhide, or Mystic setup; repair every piece; and bring two usable ranges. Defeating the Titan opens the next equipment and boss tier.
7. Umbral Sands named bosses
Jagex's 0.12 notes identify Tok-Xil, Red Dragon, and the Kalphite Queen among the desert's bosses and mini-bosses. They sit alongside regional vaults, KotHaar enemies, and Kalphites.
Use these encounters to test the Adamant, Yew, Red Dragonhide, Infinity, and Vestige equipment available in the region. Sunscorch, hydration, and quicksand are part of preparation even when they are not part of the arena. An efficient boss run starts with enough resources left after crossing the desert.
8. Fight Cave and Fuzan
The Fight Cave concludes the Umbral Sands main questline and leads to Fuzan, the red dragon overlord. The first completion is a progression clear; replay and advanced modes then provide rare crafting rewards and Vestiges.
Bring a complete loadout, not simply the newest weapon. Food, water, ammunition or runes, repaired armour, and a fallback style determine whether the attempt survives unexpected pressure. Continue with the dedicated Fight Cave and Fuzan guide for a spoiler-light preparation plan.
9–10. Repeat modes and Nightmare Crucible
Advanced Fight Cave modes reward cleaner execution and repeatable farming. The Nightmare Crucible is a separate boss-rush-style challenge accessed through Engrams found around Umbral Sands. It remixes strong enemies and rewards rare Ascension Cores used for Masterwork and Vestige weapon upgrades.
Do not enter with a one-trick build. Carry answers for close pressure, distant targets, and sustained waves. See the Nightmare Crucible guide before spending rare cores.
Boss preparation checklist
- Upgrade armour and weapon to the current region's sustainable tier.
- Find available Constitution Shrines to improve maximum health.
- Carry immediate-healing food plus the appropriate hazard meal or supplies.
- Stock ammunition or runes beyond the expected minimum.
- Repair everything and empty reward space.
- Place a safe regional recovery point.
- Use the first attempt to learn mechanics rather than force a fast kill.
- Record observed damage in the Damage & DPS Calculator before upgrading a different build.
Kuldra is not live yet
Kuldra is the five-headed black dragon known as the God-Eater. Jagex describes Scorned Wilderness as a high-end gauntlet through an Anima storm, playable solo or with allies, culminating in Kuldra. The studio is deliberately avoiding detailed mechanic spoilers, so any current page claiming a complete move-by-move walkthrough is speculative.
Use the Scorned Wilderness and Kuldra preparation guide for confirmed information and a launch-ready checklist.
